After Salman Khan's Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Sultan too completes 50 days in theatres!

After Salman Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Sultan too completes 50 days in theatres!

Salman Khan has another reason to rejoice…

Salman Khan is at the top of his game with Sultan crossing Rs 300 crores at the box office and Salman became the only Indian superstar to have two Rs 300 crores blockbuster at the box office. Where other actors even struggle to cross Rs 100 crores mark, here is Salman Khan who is easily joining Rs 300 crores club. And now there is one more reason for the actor to celebrate. His latest film has joined the likes of Bajrangi Bhaijaan and completed 50 days in theatres. In a time, when a film fizzles out in just three days, a film to sustain for that long is a huge feat.

There was a time when the success of a film was gauged by the number of weeks it ran in a theatre, during the course of time it changed to just weekend business or which film will reach faster to Rs 100 crores club. In a time like that to earn Rs 300 crores as per today’s parameter and to sustain for weeks is an achievement.

At the time of its release Sultan became the only film to earn Rs 30 plus crores on first five days of its release. Its five day business was Rs 150 crores approx. That was due to the pull of its star Salman Khan but from Monday onwards it was the content of the film that worked wonders at the box office. Audience applauded the performances, the action, the emotions, the song, basically, everything about the movie. The film was loved by one and all.

But with many bouquets came a few brickbats as well. A part of social media audience didn’t really like the idea of Anushka Sharma’s character sacrificing her career due to a mere smile on Salman’s character’s face. Due to which Anushka Sharma had to defend the film and her character’s decision on social media.

There were also reports of scuffle between Salman Khan and Yash Raj Films, the producers of the film. As per few trade reports Sultan’s collection already reached Rs 300 crores but the producer’s figures were behind the said mark. This was due to the fact that, reportedly, Salman had a deal with the producers to get an increase in profit share if the movie crossed Rs 300 crores at the box office. That was said to be the reason for Yash Raj Films to deflate the figures, which was unheard of for anyone.

All said and done the film released on July 6, 2017 and is still playing in theatres says a lot about the acceptance it got from the audience. We at BollywoodLife congratulate the team of Sultan on completing fifty days in theatres.
