Karan Johar says Fawad Khan is an important part of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil

Karan Johar is back with another love triangle after his movie Student of the year. The much awaited teaser of his film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil releases today. After the release of the tease Karan talks posters of the film without Fawad in it Karan talks about the story behind the film and Fawad’s role.

Karan says his is his sixth directorial venture. I have directed a film after four years, and that (Student of the year) was a completely different movie. Of course, this one is updated in a certain sense. But it is like going back to the school of love and passion in cinema, which i experienced in the past films such as Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Kal Ho Naa Ho. He say ADHM is nothing like Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna. He even clears the speculations that it might be similar to Doosara Aadmi, or that it has been an extra marital affair. But there is no such thing. It is a story about love. They say love can make you or destroy you, but the film is about how the love can complete you. We rarely make powerful love stories nowadays. SO, it is not a romcom or about infidelity; it is just a love story.

Before the cast was finalized there were several rumors floating around regarding who is playing what part in the film. But Karan clarifies that the movie is based on inter-relationships between people. It isn’t just a love story, but a story about love and the emotions that come with it. Of course, Ranbir, Anushka and Aiswarya, and their inter relationships have a lot to do with the theme. Fawad too plays an extremely important part; he has a special appearance but his role and the conflict that he brings to the table are very critical to the story. So, we needed to do the right casting. I’m grateful that Fawad agreed to come on board. It is a special appearance, for which he shot with us for a week. Karan is very happy that he got Fawad on board. Of course, Ranbir, Aishwarya and Anushka have played their parts beautifully, but it was critical to get someone for the role Fawad has played. When people will watch the film they will realize that we needed this kind of personality for the part. His part is important in terms of narrative of the film. I needed an actor who brings in dignity and a certain emotional strature. He was my only choice. Thouh itis a small part in a large emotional graph, it is still a very critical role.

Karan believes that the strong cameo by Fawad is the perfect narration he needed for this film. The teaser will be out in a few hours…
