Nagarjuna Akkineni's first look in Om Namo Venkatesaya will remind you of Annamayya!

The actor has turned 57 today but who would believe it?

This year, his most recent film Oopiri with Katrhi and Tamannaah Bhatia opened to great reviews and fared well at the box office. He played a paraplegic who was a millionaire. His life was down in the dumps until he hired an ex-convict as his personal assistant, who turns his live around in the many ways. And now, Nagarjuna is working on his upcoming film, a devotional one. He plays the role of Hathiram ji. He was a North Indian by birth who settled down in the south in a math. He was a great worshipper of the seven hills. Om Namo Venkatesaya  is reportedly set in the 18th century and chronicles around the history of Tirumala. K Raghavendra Rao who has already directed the star in Annamaya which had shocked everyone is now directing Ngarajuna in yet another devotional movie. And now just before his birthday, the first look has released! And he’s beyond recognition!

Sometimes it’s very difficult to differentiate between the star and the character he is playing and this is one those times– Nagarjuna as Hathi Ram ji is perfect on so many levels. Right from his simple attire to his sincere expression of devotion, Nagarjuna has taken us back to the 18th century, to that math where Hathiramji sang praises of the seven hills. Now, we are very excited! After playing a para plegic, we will now see Nagarjuna in a drastically different avatar. Talk about versatality! Anushka Shetty will be playing a prominent role in this movie. Reportedly, this will be her most de-glam avatar. Also, Pragya Jaisal whose last movie Kanche was a hit will also be part of this movie. This has turned out to be great ore-birthday gift! But there’s more to come, Akkineni fans!

Now all of you know that Nagarjuna had turned singer for a song ‘Kotha Kotha Basha’ in this movie Nirmala Convent. The song had released in July and had opened to great reviews. His voice and his dashing avatar took us back to his romantic movie days. And so to celebrate his milestone as a singer, postal stamps will be launched in his name! Yes, that’s right! His sons, Naga chaitany and Akkineni will be launching the stamp today, as a special birthday gift! “This is the biggest surprise of my life,” revealed the star to a leading portal.

It will be a portrait of Nagarjuna with the Taj Mahal in the background. When asked Akhil about his father’s birthday plans. He mentioned to the same leading portal that his father wasn’t big on birthdays and that they would just have a quite dinner.
