Last evening was all about Sultan. Salman Khan released the trailer of the film and his fans were extremely happy. After all, it’s Bhai ki film. It has every masala a typical Bollywood film does. While we were still reeling under its affect, suddenly singer Arijit Singh wrote a very long apology letter to Salman asking the latter to forgive him for something he committed. That shook us like never before. It took us time to actually figure why he was saying sorry and that too on a public platform like Facebook. It also gave us a deja vu feeling of a time when Vivek Oberoi decided to go public with his grievances against Salman Khan that affected his career dearly. We can give you reasons why we feel so.

Go public 

Many years back when Vivek Oberoi was dating Salman Khan’s ex Aishwarya Rai he called a public conference to reveal how the superstar behaved with him. He spoke at length about what all the Sultan actor did to him. He also mentioned how other actors who too were at the receiving end of the actor, decided to stay mum. Arijit unknowingly might have treaded the same path. His public apology on Facebook mentions about the show which according to him offended Salman. He decided to go public which is exactly what Vivek did.

Eversince the apology went public, some people doubted Arijit’s intentions. Many of Salman’s fans on Twitter accused the singer of maligning the actor publicly. So, even if his apology was heartfelt, it gained him a negative image. Same for Vivek. The press conference only earned him a bad name and nothing else. He even admitted on Farah Khan’s show Tere Mere Beach Mein that the person behind his public outburst didn’t even acknowledge it. The apology is earning Arijit a lot of flak, perhaps for the first time in his career.

Open talk

Vivek was perhaps the only actor who invited the media over to slam someone like Salman Khan. Nobody has done that before. In fact, we doubt if anybody expected something of the sort would ever happen but it did and everybody knows where it took the actor. And then we didn’t think anybody would go public with anything related to Salman ever after what happened to Vivek but Arijit Singh proved us wrong. It has happened after a long time.

The consequence

Vivek Oberoi can vouch for the fact that after that press conference, everything went south for him. In Farah Khan’s show, he also revealed how he was turned into an outcast in the industry. People weren’t interested to work with him. One of the promising newcomers of that time was struggling for work after the incident. We hope the same doesn’t happen to Arijit Singh because if that happens, one song from a single film getting ousted will be least of his worry.
