Waiting music review: This Naseeruddin Shah and Kalki Koechlin film has some SOOTHING melodies!

Waiting music review: This Naseeruddin Shah and Kalki Koechlin film has some SOOTHING melodies!

The music is composed by Mike McCleary, with lyrics by Manoj Muntashir, Mikey McCleary and Ankur Tewari.

If you are fed up with the routine fare Bollywood dishes out for you every week, perhaps you can find some refreshing change in Waiting… This Naseeruddin Shah and Kalki Koechlin starrer deals with a different subject about two very different people bonding as their respective partners are in coma. The album for the film is out, and let’s see if it is as different as the film.

Tu Hai Toh Main Hoon

The album begins on a pleasant note with Anushka Manchanda’s soothing voice in Tu Hai Toh Main Hoon. Though the arrangements are eerily similar to Rogue Waves’ Eyes, you can’t help but endear yourself to this one. Anushka gets good support from Nikhil D’Souza.

Got My Eyes On You

Mike McCleary gets into rock and roll mode with this one, as this English song could go well at Christmas parties. The retro song is definitely fun as it is played, though it won’t have a long lasting effect.

Waiting on You

Waiting on You would work as the theme song of the film, as the lyrics best describes the situation of both the protagonists as they wait for their respective partners to come out of their coma, so that they can go home. Mike McCleary and Anushka Manchanda sings this soft English number with enough heartfelt emotions to touch your hearts.

Zara Zara

After two English numbers, Hindi returns to this album, as Kavita Seth and a surprisingly subdued but effective Vishal Dadlani takes on Zara Zara. Like most of the songs, the song aims to conquer your heart, and it is damn effective thanks to brilliant subtle orchestrations and the duo’s singing, even in the high notes.

Our verdict

Waiting may lack the quintessential massy numbers, but this is one music album that has a soul. This is something most of the soundtracks lack these days.Check this album for some very soothing numbers.
