Yes they have done it again
Our Censor Board is notoriously popular for its double standards. They make excessive cuts on some films and let others pass which require a few. Many films have come under the radar of the board, the latest film being Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt starrer Udta Punjab. As you may or may not have heard, the film has been grounded by the board thanks to excessive swearing. But then, in a film that deals on dark subjects such as drug abuse in Punjab, what else do they expect? Of course, the fans are not at all pleased and have taken to Twitter to vent out their anger.
The hashtag #SHAME ON CENSOR BOARD is going viral and we really aren’t all that surprised because it was obvious from the start that the film has a truckload of swear words. The trailer itself made it evident that there will be excessive cursing and swearing to make things more hard hitting and real. So it is really strange that, even after watching such a provocative trailer, the censor board is raising problems only now. So the unhappy fans are of course on a Twitter rampage and are ironically using a liberal amount of swear words themselves.
One passionate fan says that,” Too much swearing=Ban, Nudity=Ban, then what is the purpose of A rating. We can decide what to watch and what not to #idiots SHAME ON CENSOR BOARD.”
We hope that the Censor Board sees the ire of the people and changes its decision of stalling the release of the movie. Meanwhile, here some more reactions of fans on the microblogging platform:
