Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Diljit Dosanjh starrer Udta Punjab is a movie that focuses on the growing popularity of Punjab in the drugs business. Well, let’s face it, we’ve all heard that the best pot you get is up in the North. In fact, there are lots of stories that suggest that the state of Punjab glorifies in the drugs business. 70 per cent of youth is also involved in this dark trade. So when I found out that Ishqiya director was making Udta Punjab, an up, close and personal look at the drug abuse in Punjab, my excitement knew no bounds!

When the film’s trailer surfaced, I literally watched the video over and over again! Not because it has Shahid (oh-so-hot Shahid) but because of the gripping plotline. I can already say that Sasha’s character is going to be that of a messed up addict, Kareena is going to be the saint who wishes to bring the blind out of the darkness, Diljit wishes to wipe out this malicious trade while Alia takes home all the sympathies. Even in the making, I felt the same. Shahid goes bonkers while shooting the scenes, Kareena throws celebrity tantrums such as things she can’t do as she ain’t no Tarzan, Alia sits injured as she dons the role of a youth fallen bin the pit of drug abuse while Diljit does his funny sardarji bit, to spread laughter on the sets.

And while the stars did what I just described, the director was resorting to cuss words and getting perfection from his team. Of course, that meant the team yelling at each other, making sure the director, Abhishek Chaubey is happy and satiated and things don’t go haywire.
