After Shahid Kapoor, Sushmita Sen slapped with a BMC notice for breeding dengue mosquitoes!

A few weeks ago we reported to you how actor Shahid Kapoor was slammed with a notice by the BMC for failing to prevent the breeding of aedes aegypti mosquito inside his apartment. According to a report in Times of India, the BMC’s insecticide department, during their surveillance drive, found a mosquito breeding ground inside Shahid’s swimming pool that was apparently lying unused. Aedes aegypti can transmit dengue and chikungunya, which are creating havoc nationwide. And now, after Shahid, actress Sushmita Sen has been served notice from Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) after some mosquito breeding spots were found in the vicinity of her house in Khar.As per sources, the BMC officials have long been trying to conduct a reality check at Sushmita’s abode in Khar, but they were not able to following her absence from the place.

Finally on Friday last week the BMC officials conducted inspection at her penthouse, found mosquito breeding spots and subsequently served her notice. Vouching for the notice, Rajan Naringrekar, the insecticide officer at BMC said, “We have issued a notice to her under section 381b of the MMC Act, which means she could be prosecuted. The metropolitan magistrate can levy a fine of up to Rs 10,000 to 20,000”. Earlier this month, Kahaani 2 actress – Vidya Balan was diagnosed with Dengue. While reports suggested that she was hospitalised, we exclusively told you that she is at her home itself and has been advised 10-15 days of bed rest. After this, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials conducted a thorough inspection of Vidya’s house at Praneta Apartments in Juhu, Mumbai. They were trying to locate possible mosquito breeding grounds. And although they did not find any mosquito breeding grounds in the actress’ home, two were found on the upper floor and one on the ground floor. Her neighbours, including Shahid Kapoor, have been served notices by the BMC for failing to prevent the breeding of aedes aegypti mosquito inside their apartments.

Over 1,500 patients have been admitted with dengue at various hospitals in the last one month. Private physicians claim they have been admitting many more cases and so, this is a really big concern for everyone. Last year, actors Anil Kapoor, Jitendra and Juhi Chawla were prosecuted by the BMC for failing to help prevent the breeding of mosquitoes.
