Around four decades after Thikana (1987) where they played lovers, Anil Kapoor and Amrita Singh will be paired in Mubarakan, directed by Anees Bazmee. This time, around, however, they are playing siblings. Anil confirms the development. He is excited at the prospect of working with her again and chuckles, “If you truly ask me, I am scared of working with Amrita. She knows many secrets of mine and is extremely honest and moohfat (forthright). I am petrified of her because I feel that once we start shooting, she will come and expose all my secrets! Mere bhanje Arjun (Kapoor) ke saamne meri puri pol khol degi Amrita.”
He admits that they are like chalk and cheese. She is straightforward and brutally honest, while he is measured and politically correct. Anil reflects, “I guess that’s the reason we got along so well. Don’t they say opposites become friends? Each and every day, working with her was entertaining and lots of fun. She is great fun to be on the sets. I remember that her mother Rukhsana Sultana (a political activist and a renowned socialite) was very fond of me. Apart from Anil and Amrita, Mubarakan also stars Arjun Kapoor in the titular role. Arjun will be joined by alleged girlfriend Athiya Shetty and Ileana D’Cruz. Ain’t that a cool line up for a quirky rom-com drama? The shooting for the film starts in a few weeks and the the film is scheduled to release on July 28, 2017!
While Anil Kapoor is preparing for his son Harshvardhan Kapoor’s Bollywood debut – Mirzya (releasing on October 7), Amrita Singh’s daughter Sara Ali Khan is trying to make inroads into Bollywood too… However, Amrita might just have made her lose out on two film. Apparently Sara was supposed to make her debut in either Student of the Year 2 or The Fault in our Stars remake under Dharma’s banner. However, reports suggest that the production house wanted Sara to sign up with a particular talent management agency that handled their work. Amrita didn’t approve and Sara had to back out. Sad, isn’t it? Both the films were huge and would have been the perfect launch pad for her. Talking about protective, Amrita was furious after seeing Sara in a crop top at Kareena’s birthday bash. Amrita likes Sara to dress conservatively, but after seeing her in that avatar, she was really angry. We even reported how Amrita felt that Saif Ali Khan’s new wife and Sara’s step mother Kareena Kapoor Khan (she is actually more like a friend to the star kid) was a bad influence for her daughter.
