I think we need a new adjective to describe Aamir Khan, the perfectionist. Because no matter how we try to explain, the word perfectionist simply cannot stand alone, without the actor’s name attached to it. Okay, before you start wondering what’s up with the sudden praises for Aamir. Well, all you ignorant souls, the trailer of his upcoming biopic, Dangal, surfaced in the morning. You wouldn’t believe it but I actually dropped in at office almost two hours earlier than my actual schedule just so I could check the trailer and write stories related to it. Some might find that absurd for who comes early just to do donkey labour? But believe me, if you have hopes with this film breaking records at the box office, you too will be just as excited as I am. Of course, the intensity might be different for different kinds of fans but after watching the trailer, I think we all will fall in the same level as zealous fans.
Now this might be done to death but remember when Aamir gained and shed so many kilos that at one point, it even affected his health. However, with the product the actor has submitted from all the hardwork and physical transformations, we have Dangal’s Mahavir Phogat, giving us several shades of his life. It is quite shocking that an actor whose last film was a thriller where he does play a younger criminal, now finds his own age rather acceptable. Seriously, I mean, not many would choose to say yes to a role which demands them acting their age for various reasons including losing their fanbase. However, it is this very bold and daring challenge they take on, that further enhances the growth of their fandom. I wouldn’t mind seeing actors play their age. In Dangal’s trailer, we saw five stages and looks of Aamir Khan that we bet you didn’t realise before. It ranges from his clean shaven youth days to his salt and pepper portrayed oldman look. Although, we hear majority of the film has Aamir in his older days, the youth twist that the makers added by the end of the trailer is quite intriguing. Anyway, enough talk, you can just scroll below and check out all the five looks sported by Aamir Khan that show his obsession with perfection!
The trailer started with Mr Khan looking not too old but neither too young look. So you can’t really call it middle aged. Perhaps he could be in his 30s or so in the frame. Married to Sakshi Tanwar in the film, we see a disheartened Mahavir, who hopes for a son but is left with four daughters. Coming from a wrestling background himself and withholding a dream of expecting his kin to bring home a gold medal, here’s a disheartened but handsome Mahavir Phogat for you.
You have the middle aged Mahavir, who realises the potential of his daughters and that even they can kick some butt inside the wrestling ring. While he stands staring, perplexed that his daughters just beat the sh*t out of two boys for abusing them, the girls are casually explain how in the heat of the moment, they couldn’t hold back as they hit the boys.
Next, here’s Mahavir shirtless, proudly showing off his paunch for the first time on camera. While the look still falls back with the middle aged one, we just had to add this in the list as for the very first time, Aamir has donned a paunch and even showed it off. There’s so much realism hooked in the scene as he nonchalantly pours milk into the container without his shirt on. Beautifully shot, must say.
I simply cannot miss out the salt and pepper look. We did see this look as we spotted the actor in the past. However, seeing it in passing and witnessing him sport the look with the enthusiasm of a proud father are two different experiences. In the trailer, as we see him in the background while his daughter takes the limelight, not only made me realise that the actor has made sure the film is not about him but the bigger picture being what he did to make his daughters legends!
Finally, we get a glimpse of a clean shaven, ripped, young Mahavir, who did some dhobi pachad during his heydays! Okay, I just want to point out that he looks like the cute alien he played in PK but no, the bigger picture here is to see how marvellously he has shed weight and brought about the apt wrestler’s physique. Kudos, Mr Khan. Only you can do something so phenomenal and create history!
