Ranbir Kapoor’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil will continue to face protests from MNS – read details here

Ranbir Kapoor’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil will continue to face protests from MNS – read details here

A day back, we all came across a video by the director Karan Johar where he broke his silence and declared that he will not to work with Pakistani talent in future. The director condemned terrorism and also implored fellow Indians to not undermine the work of scores of other Indians who toiled hard to help complete the film. He expressed his hope that they will not have to face any sort of turbulence and reiterated his patriotism for the country by saying he loves India above everything else. So while we all were extremely touched by his gesture, we hoped that this would lessen the intensity that Maharashtra’s political party, MNS has towards these movies but nothing seems to please them. They are still adamant on their stand and will not let Ae Dil Hai Mushkil release in theatres.

As per reports in a leading daily, when asked if MNS plans to calm down after Karan’s public confession that he won’t work these actors anytime in future, Amey Khopkar, President of Maharashtra Navnirman Chitrapat Karmachari Sena, the film wing of the Raj Thackeray-led MNS told Indian Express.com, “Has he realised it only now? He didn’t understand it for such a long time?He has not mentioned Pakistani actors. He has said he won’t work with the neighbouring country’s talent. Talent?” Also Read: Mumbai police promises security to Ae Dil Hai Mushkil

Shalini Thackeray, general secretary of Chitrapat Karmachari Sena too questioned Karan sudden change of mind towards neighbouring actors. She stated that, “This is the same Karan Johar who once said Pakistani actors should not be banned. Why this sudden change in heart? It’s come a little too late in the day for him. We are firm on our stand and we will not allow him to release the film.”

Warning the theatres owners to not take these threats lightly, Amey Khopkar told PTI, “We will oppose the screening of the movie everywhere in the state. If any multiplex operator dares to screen the film, they (operators) should remember that multiplexes are decorated with expensive glass sheets.” Also Read: Karan Johar’s video statement confirms that Katrina’s film with Fawad Khan is shelved

It was owing to such threats that Karan Johar with other Bollywood producers like  Mukesh Bhatt and Sidhartha Roy Kapoor met Mumbai Police Commissioner DD  Padsalgikar and joint commissioner of police (law and order) Deven Bharti and demanded security for cinema houses screening the film. The Mumbai Police later issued an statement saying, “The Mumbai police will provide adequate protection to cinema theatres as and when required.”
