Did Anushka Sharma just say that Deepika Padukone’s role in Tamasha wasn’t ‘glorious’?

Did Anushka Sharma just say that Deepika Padukone’s role in Tamasha wasn’t ‘glorious’?

Anushka’s recent dig might not go down too well with Deepika

Now we know that Anushka Sharma has been finalised for Imtiaz Ali’s next untitled film opposite Shah Rukh Khan. She has always maintained that she is very fond of the two and has always wanted to work with the director. But in a recent interview with an entertainment portal, a question about getting an offer to work with the director in Tamasha earlier left Anushka tongue tied.

After an awkward pause she said, “The thing was that at the time that Tamasha came to me, for me like I told you he is very special person, I wanted that experience to be very very amazing and glorious and I told him that. I didn’t think Tamasha was that film for me. He (Imtiaz) is an honest person. You can say the truth to him. You don’t have to bull shit him at all. I told him the truth. I said see Imtiaz you know I really want to work with you but I didn’t feel like that that was the film for me. Now I’m happy. Now I am getting to do the kind of film I wanted to do with Imtiaz.”

While Imtiaz Ali has himself accepted that Deepika Padukone’s role in Tamasha was just of a muse to Ranbir Kapoor, around whom the film revolves; the fact that Deepika’s role -Tara Maheshwari got noticed, recognised and applauded. This testifies that Anushka’s loss was Deepika’s gain. Deepika also knew that Tamasha wasn’t about her, but she took it in her stride and contributed to the film to such an extent that today Tamasha cannot be thought without her.

However, clearly Anushka doesn’t have any qualms or regrets of declining Imtiaz’s offer. Afterall, she is getting to work with the director in a film of her choice that too opposite Shah Rukh.
