Kabali day 2 box office collections: Rajinikanth's gangster drama joins Salman Khan's Sultan in Rs 100 crore club!

His latest film, Kabali is already breaking a lot of box office records, be it domestic or overseas, all thanks to the hype that has been riding around the films. Fans are standing outside the theatres in long lines in Tamil Nadu and Kerala, to catch the screening of the film, some even willing to shell out thousands to buy tickets in black.

We had also reported that how Rajinikanth has taken over Salman Khan’s Sultan‘s Day 1 collections with its nearly Rs 42 crores nett collections nationwide!

The film also has been performing decently in the North Indian territories, which has never been much of a Thalaiva forte. As per trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the film has grossed about Rs 11.40 cr nett [Hindi+Tamil+Telugu versions] in two days. On Friday, it garnered Rs 5.20 cr., while on Saturday it showed a 19.23% growth with a collection of Rs 6.20 cr. However, we have to see how the film will maintain the business once the weekend is over.

With the day 1 collection of nearly Rs 87 crores worldwide, and only the North India collections of Day 2 being Rs 11.5 crores, we are sure the South collections will be much higher than that! So that means the film has already entered club by day 2 itself!

However the Hindi dubbed version of the film has been sold for Rs 35 crores, and after the film’s release, it has got mixed to negative reviews thanks to a predictable plot and average direction! So for a film that has been sold at such a high rate, the collections received on Day 1 is pretty average. With the miserable reviews and the lacklustre response received for the Hindi trailer, expect it to dip down further.
