Madaari Is Ordinary, Could Have Done A Little Better | Box Office

Madaari has turned out to be a dull show at the Box Office. There wasn’t much going for it en route its release. Though the promo was interesting, the hype was surprisingly missing. In fact this Irrfan and Jimmy Sheirgill starrer had ample time to push its marketing and promotional campaign to the optimum. Still, the film didn’t quite see itself on the top of the game when it came to awareness and excitement. This reflected in the collections that stayed ordinary right through the week, hence resulting in just around 12.50 crore coming in eventually.

First week of Talvar [15.55 crore] was on the same lines, but such score was managed despite competition with Singh Is Blinng, which had gathered 77.6 crore in the same time period. One can well imagine that when an offbeat film manages to do that even in face of an out and out commercial flick, it definitely has a lot of substance to back it up. This is the reason why distributors and exhibitors had shown enough confidence in the film to keep playing it for a few more weeks, as a result of which the Irrfan starrer had eventually crossed the 30 crore mark.

That, sadly, won’t happen for Madari which would end its run around the 20 crore mark. In any case, the merits of the film too were not as high as Talvar, or say, A Wednesday (which had a similar premise). The Nishikant Kamat directed film has done the kind of business which is in the line with the content that it had to offer. Yes, it could have done a little better, perhaps stretch towards the 25 crore mark, but that’s about it.
